What A difference a week makes...

This week, I want to give thanks to God and to all of you that have prayed for us in this journey.  We have SO much to be thankful for!
  • SOLD!!  We have lived in the same house since Emmy was born (literally moving in at the same time we brought her home from the hospital).  It has been an amazing place to raise a family and besides a couple of hurricanes 😊- it has been without incident.  I attached a picture of the new buyers on the day of the walk through and closing.  I pray that this house will be as much of a blessing for Jose’s family as it was for us.

  • FINDING A HOME.  As many of you know, the reason that we needed to sell our home was because we felt strongly that we needed to live in the community where we were starting our church.  That was trickier than we thought it would be.  At first, we thought we wanted to purchase but finding the right home to buy sometimes doesn’t happen as quickly as we want.  Plus, Kendall is EXPENSIVE!  One of the first open houses we visited (and that Misty loved!) was a property that we knew was a little beyond what we could afford so we decided not to make an offer on it.  It stayed on the real estate market for several months more months and at the same time that we decided to start looking for rental properties, the owner removed it from the MLS and decided to rent it out instead.  We spoke to the agent and made an offer to lease with an option to purchase and they accepted it!

  • HOA APPROVAL.  I thought that when we got the lease signed that the hard part was over- I was wrong!  The process to get approved to live in our Homeowner’s Association was like buying a home.  The package of documentation that they needed was a ½ inch thick and required 3-4 weeks to get the approval.  We needed to close sooner than that because our buyer wanted in our old house.  Many of you prayed specifically and a friend made a call to the HOA and the approval came in 2 weeks and 2 days!  We got our approval on Friday, called on friends to help us move on Sunday, and we closed on our old home on Tuesday!  It has been a crazy week and we are still unpacking!  Huge thanks to Brandon, Alan, Jose, Jason, Roland, Maritza and Angelina for your help with the move!!

  • ARC.  The other exciting thing that happened this week was getting a response back on the application that we made to be part of a Church Planting Network called ARC (Association of Related Churches).  ARC has planted hundreds of churches across North America and around the world.   Their interview/application process was harder than the HOA process and I wasn’t sure that we would get accepted (I had to get an exception because I was 4 days past the due date.)   Last Friday, the same day we got our HOA approval, we got approved to go to Phase 2 with ARC!  We will be traveling to Portland in September and working with coaches and other church planters to lay a strong foundation for the launch of Renew Church! More details on this to come...

Thanks for reading and sharing!
