Hi there!
Can you believe it?  Renew is turning 2! There are lots of things happening and I hope that you will join in to help our 2nd Birthday a day we will not forget!

Some of the ways that you can help include sharing our invite posts on Facebook and Instagram (@renewmiami).  Also, when you click “Going” on our Facebook events page, it will grow the number of people that can see our event.  Please be sure to click “Going”!

Here are the other things happening in preparation for our Birthday Celebration on 1/31:

-Dollar Tree Giveaway //  Linda Robles is leading an outreach at the Dollar Tree in London Square.  We have purchased $5 Gift Cards and we will be blessing people with a gift card and inviting them to our Birthday event.  If you would like to help Linda out, please reach out to her directly at 786-515-7990.

-Grocery Giveaway 1/30 //  We are giving away food boxes to needy families in our community.  This will be a Drive-Thru event from 10am - Noon.  If you or someone you know needs groceries, please send them to the church on that Saturday!  Address; 17569 SW 147 Ave. Miami 33187 (We could use some additional volunteers!)

-Free Soda Giveaway 1/30 // We are going to be giving away free Soda at the corner of  SW 147 Ave. and SW 160 St. from 10am to Noon and inviting people to come to our Birthday event!  (We still need additional volunteers for this outreach!)

-Happy Birthday Renew!! 1/31 //  This will be a HUGE DAY!  We will have individually wrapped Birthday Cupcakes, Tiagos Tacos, Free T-shirts, an Obstacle Course and games for the kids AND a $200 Raffle in each Service!  Please don’t miss this day!  Come early and invite your friends, family and neighbors to celebrate all that God has done at Renew Church!  (We will be Social Distancing and requiring face masks during the service and Birthday events.)

See You Sunday!

Baptism at Renew

1/15/2021

Hi there!
I AM SO EXCITED!

I know it feels even longer, but we are preparing for our first Baptism and Child Dedication ceremonies in over a year!

If you have never been baptized (or maybe you weren’t old enough to remember), consider taking this NEXT STEP in your faith!

At Renew Church we believe that baptism is important for every person who has accepted Christ as his/her Savior. We consider it a privilege to walk with those that choose to take this next step on their spiritual journey.

What is Baptism?
Baptism has been a Christian symbol since the time of Jesus. It involves applying water to Christians to symbolize their death to the old way of life (Romans 6:3-4) and their new life God provides (Galatians 3:26-27). Baptism, a sacramental "means of grace”, seals one's intention to follow God (Acts 2:37-41, 8:35-39, 10:44-48).

A general definition for the word baptism is “a rite of washing with water as a sign of religious purification and consecration.” This rite was practiced frequently in the Old Testament. It signified purity or cleansing from sin and devotion to God. Since baptism was first instituted in the Old Testament many have practiced it as a tradition yet have not fully understood its significance and meaning.

In the New Testament, the significance of baptism is seen more clearly. John the Baptist was sent by God to spread the news of the coming Messiah—Jesus Christ. John was directed by God (John 1:33) to baptize those who accepted his message. John’s baptizing is called “a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.” (Mark 1:4).  Those baptized by John acknowledged their sins and professed their faith that through the coming Messiah they would be forgiven.

Child Dedication
Another special moment in the life of families in our church is Child Dedication. This happens when the parents choose to have their children dedicated as a symbol of their intention to raise them in God's Church and their hope to see that they choose God's ways when they are older.
Both of these events are very special for the friends and family for who the ceremony is for, so don’t forget to invite them to join you!

If you would like more information about either of these events happening on January 24, please reach out to me!  Reply to this email and I would love to set up a time to talk you more about it!

See you Sunday!

My "Almost" Political Post.

Hi there!
In light of everything going on this week, I thought about writing a political post , but I'm not doing that.

Instead, let me give you something good to think about.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! I have overcome the world!" John 16:33

Isn't that good news today?

As we look back on recent days, it would be easy to focus on all the "trouble" going on in our world (and Jesus said we'd have it)

But take heart!

Jesus has overcome the world!

Can I remind you that in Christ, YOU are an overcomer?

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation! The old has gone, behold, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17

On another note, we are 6 days into our 21 days of Prayer and Fasting.  I have heard from several of you that have shared how good the time of prayer and private moments with God have been.  I am so thankful to hear that.  If God is working in your life, please let me know.  I would love to hear more!  Send me a message or reply to this email!

I am really excited for 2021 and here are some of the reasons why:
  • Renew is Turning 2 - don't miss our Birthday on January 31!
  • Baptism and Baby Dedications are on January 24- If you or someone you know is interested, please let us know!
  • Small Groups begin next week!  We have InPerson and Zoom Groups including a New Believers Group, Financial Peace, Prayer Group and more! Details can be found on our website at www.renew.miami/small-groups or reach out to Sandi Abbott.
  • Misfit Youth is meeting weekly!  We have an awesome Youth Ministry that my 15 year old loves to attend!  They are practicing social distancing while still have lots of fun together and building community.
We have some other exciting things happening in the days ahead and you don't want to miss any of it.  If you know someone in the Miami area please invite them to Renew on Sundays at 9:15am and 10:35am.  If they don't live in Miami, check us out at Renew Church Online every Sunday at 10:45am.  We have a growing Online Community and people from several different states have made Renew Church a home for them!

We love you!

See you Sunday!

PS Can I ask you to please pray for the Santos and Lynch families?  Stephanie (our Worship Leader) lost her grandmother to Covid this week and it has been a really hard time for the entire family.  Thank you.

Some Good Things

Hi there!

As we get ready to finish 2020 let’s not go forward without being able to look back. 2020 was a year almost all would not want to repeat. But with that said, 2020 offered all of us an opportunity to reflect, slowdown, and truly appreciate everyday as a gift. If 2020 helped you to realize an area of your life that needed attention or helped you to realize how important relationships are, then that is a good thing. If 2020 helped you to realize how you need to make more time for the things that are important like God, family, and friends, well then that is a good thing. 2020 has been bad, I won’t deny that, but they’re have been some good things. 2020 gave us an opportunity to lean into what’s really important. Let’s not walk away from that heading into 2021. Let’s go into 2021 wiser, stronger, and with purpose. I don’t know what to expect for 2021, but I do know that Jesus is King. As long as that is true, which it will always be, then we can know that there will always be good things. I promise you that with Jesus, the best is yet to come.

Love,

Hi there!
At Renew Church, we talk about helping people to Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose and Make a Difference.  We want to THANK YOU for making a difference at our Church!  We would not be where we are without you!

Christmas Tree Sale was Awesome!
We raised over $4500 in Christmas Trees for Missions and Hurricane Relief and there are still some donations coming in! Thank you to everyone that supported by volunteering and buying from Renew Church last weekend! (And a special thanks to the Robles family for leading this event!) We started with 115 trees and we have only a few left, if you know someone that needs a tree and can’t afford it- just come on Sunday and pick it up in the breezeway at Church.

Christmas Offering Initiatives
Every year at Renew Church we take a special Christmas Offering to support specific initiatives.  This year, our goal is to raise $10,000 for three initiatives that align with our Core Values.  These initiatives include:

-Renovation projects at Renew Church.  The renovations include exterior landscape and fence, RC Kids Areas, A/V Needs and more.  (Core Value #1 We Start with Worship. #6 We Pursue the Next Generation)

-Supporting Renew Church #2.  I am meeting regularly with a Church Planter that has a vision to start a church in the Redland/Homestead Area.  Part of this offering will go to fund their launch budget and equipment needs.  (Core Value #8 We Plant Churches.)

-Missions.  We will give a portion of the offering to help with local and international missions.  (Core Value #7 We Give Irrationally. #9 We Are on a Co-Mission)
We will be receiving the Christmas Offering on December 20th.  Please pray about what you might be able to give to support these initiatives.  Thank you!

Once Upon a Christmas
As a reminder, our Christmas Program, “Once upon a Christmas” is in 2 weeks!  You don’t want to miss it!  Services are at 9:30am and 10:45am and it will be a fun show for the whole family!  If you want to play a part in the show, we still have some opportunities for you to join in- rehearsal is this Sunday night at 5:30pm.  Questions? Call  Suzanne Suris at 305-283-8319.

We love you and can’t wait to see you this Sunday Online or InPerson!  We will be receiving Communion together during the service.

Hi there!
We had an awesome weekend at Renew Church!  If you have not visited on a Sunday and you live in Miami- I encourage you to come check us out!  If you are unable to or you don’t live near us- we still have Renew Church Online on Sundays at 10:45am!  (Please know we are in the process of upgrading our Church Online experience and we have had some challenges with our production/editing, if you have trouble watching at www.Renew.Miami, please try facebook.com/renewmiami.

As we prepare for Christmas, you don’t want to miss a Sunday in December!  We will have character visits from several popular Christmas stories and lots of other fun activities every weekend.

We are also selling Christmas trees on Thanksgiving Weekend.  Prices are from $25 for a 4-5’ Tree up to $75 for 8-9’ Trees.  100% of proceeds go to support Hurricane Relief and Missions!  (Pre-Order your tree this Sunday!)
Picture
Last week, we had our Christmas Vision Meeting at Renew!  What a great turnout!  Thank you to everyone who came!  This Sunday we will begin rehearsals and assigning parts. If you are interested in being part of the program… show up this Sunday at 5:45pm!  For questions, contact Suzanne Suris at 305-283-8319 or Mabel Perez at 786-402-0220.  Suzanne is the Worship Director at Redland Church and we are happy to be partnering with churches in our community for the same purpose of celebrating the birth of our King!

Picture
Finally, be praying.  Although the Christmas program is going to be super fun in nature and families are going to love it- this is also an opportunity to invite people to church that might be far from God right now.  We will be doing a “5 for 5” initiative from November 30-December 4.  The purpose is to pray and fast for 5 days for 5 people/families in your life that need to be at Renew Church on December 20 for our Christmas Program!  I truly believe this could be a life changing day for some people that you intentionally begin to pray and fast for during our “5 for 5” Initiative.
