Love is Patient...

Love is patient... 1 Corinthians 13:4a

I am in week 3 of our 5 week series entitled, “Your Story”. The actions you take and the decisions you make will determine the story that breaks in your life.

This week I have been in John 11 which focuses on Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Near the end of the story, the shortest verse in the Bible comes up... maybe you have heard it, “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35). This follows a pretty dramatic dialogue with Lazarus’ sister about how Jesus was late and had He arrived earlier- his friend would still be alive.

In the next verses, John notes what others say about Jesus as he weeps, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man kept this man from dying?”

So, what do you say?
A. “See how He loved him?”
B. “Could not He have kept him from dying?”

I choose “C” (All of the Above).

I think that Jesus loved Lazarus... AND I think He could have kept him from dying but I also think that “this sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” (John 11:4)

Sometimes, true love waits. We can’t always explain that but I hope you will join me this Sunday as I talk more from this passage and how “game changing circumstances” can totally change your story.

Happy Valentines Day.
