Independence Day!

I was never great at US History- all the dates and names can start to sound alike…but I find myself thinking more about our history this year than previous years.  Maybe it’s because I’m getting older… and wiser?? (Nahh, couldn’t be that).

​Maybe it’s because I know there are people in other nations that are literally risking their life to try to get to the U.S.  It’s a sad reality and if you aren’t thankful for the rights and privileges you have, it might be because you have never traveled to places where these rights/opportunities are not available.   

​It could also be that I am fascinated with how times have changed in the last 200 years!  Think about the fact that we are most likely the most powerful nation on earth and only a couple of centuries ago we didn’t even exist.  Compare that to nations that have been around for thousands of years and you see what we have become. 

Or maybe its just because it’s the 4th of July.  Time to start the grill…
