Day twenty: Walking in freedom takes a different mindset.

You can't get to the Promised Land with the same mindset you had in Egypt.

Let’s put it in a way Miamians will understand… if you're planning to go to Disney World, you're not going get there with the same Google route that would take you to the Florida Keys.

Similarly, our mindset is the roadmap that determines our life’s course. How do we shift our thinking so we can take the freedom road that leads to victory? According to Paul, it’s a matter of substitution.

He told the Ephesian Christians to replace sinful habits with their direct opposites: from lying to telling the truth, giving instead of stealing and from harboring anger to addressing feelings promptly. In other words, do a u-turn right on the highway you’re on. That’s what repentance is all about. It’s not just a feeling… it’s what you do with your words, actions, and thoughts.

Making this radical change is difficult, but God’s Holy Spirit guides and empowers us. However, we must be open to it, asking for His help and cooperating and collaborating with the Holy Spirit.

God doesn't coerce us but invites us to participate in His restoration project for the world. This invitation was extended to the Israelites, encouraging them to partner with God and let Him transform their thinking, making them a people capable of establishing a new order on Earth.

We're called to do the same thing, grounded in the understanding of who we are and whose we are. As new creations in Christ Jesus, our past mistakes don’t define us. God Almighty, who has called us out of darkness into His wonderful light, determines our identity.

Scripture Reference: Ephesians 4:24-32
- 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. 25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”[d] Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil. 28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. 30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own,[e] guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Prayer Prompt: Ask God to transform your thinking so I can break free of sinful patterns that keep you from the freedom He offers for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower your walk so you can participate in His Kingdom work.
